Photo of the Day - 10 - Vending Machines at Night Much of the land around west Texas is dedicated to agriculture and oil. Cotton is definitely king in this region. On the southern edge of Lubbock, Texas, a farmer named Dean makes his living off of the popular crop. When he isn't working on his fields, he spends his time repairing and selling old soda vending machines. Here are a few of the machines he works on to bring in a little extra money for his family.
When I put together the list of things I wanted to photography over the course of the month, I wrote down 'animal', but wasn't really sure what I would do for this. I didn't want to go easy with basic domestic animals. Lubbock doesn't have a zoo, so I didn't really have that as an option. My sister Katie suggested monkeys at one point, but I really didn't think that would work either. I ended up deciding on my sister Becky's chickens. It was fun watching them walk around the pen. They definitely weren't shy for the camera. They aren't exotic, or wild, but these chickens were pretty interesting to me.
Every night I drive past the movie theater on my way home. I see the lights shine off the water and it kind of mesmerizes me. Film is definitely a passion of mine, and having a theater so close is amazing. These lights are almost like the lights that attract the a bug, I am pulled in.
